One of the most important members of Patnaik’s cabinet and the political landscape in Odisha was Naba Das, a well-known politician in India. Naba Das entered the legislature for the first time in 2004, running from the seat of Jharsuguda on the Congress ticket.

Naba Kishore Das, Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, was fired at by an assistant sub-inspector of police in Jharsuguda district on Sunday. Das was shot in the chest and was taken to the hospital.
The minister is reported to be in critical condition. He is being taken to Jharsuguda airport, from which Das would be flown to Bhubaneswar. The health minister will be sent to Apollo hospital for additional treatment.
